  1. Rae, your photos are not showing on the last two posts. Your “what is that thing called” must still be broken.

    • I think I have the only cat on the planet who does not like empty boxes! I set up a bunch for her in different parts of the house and there is only one she uses, in the shower, and that took her eons to get into!

    • Yup! This is why I try to never approach her in a way that she feels trapped. So I put her cubby that she uses with her back to the door. So when she hears me coming, she can pop out instead of feeling cornered in it. The shower door is on a slider. So I set it in the middle of the shower to make two openings. I approach from one side and she knows she could slip out the other. Helps immensely.

    • She is about three years old. It took me ages to get the truth about her background. Had I known, I would not have taken her and would have pushed for her to go to a rural home. In fact, if I don’t see significant progress in the next three months or so, I’m going to try to rehome her that way. You see, she was a street cat that went into the lady’s house through a window and got used to there being food there. So she was never tamed or a pet. She was just a street cat used to seeking shelter and food in a certain place. The lady did get her spayed and vaccinated, though. Then, the lady had to return to the US and get rid of all her rescue animals. While all this upheaval was going on, Sombra ended up getting confined for a few months and not being able to go outside. So she was already traumatised from that before being brought to my house! I feel so awful for her. The lady was trying to do a good thing by her, but I think did more harm. 🙁

  2. Ooh poor little thing! Unfortunate about the confinement.
At least she returns from outside to shelter and eat, that is a start.Hopefully you can gain her trust.
