      • Oh come on Rae! Have you ever slept with a dog? LOL

My beagle, Cheyenne, who I adopted in March 2016, was different than any beagle I have ever had. She was not relaxed and easygoing like all of the other beagles I have had or been around during my life. This dog was even afraid of her own shadow, and the first time she jumped on the bed with me, I could NOT say NO or tell her to get down. She was kind of excited, so I did say, “Lay down” in a firm voice and she immediately did.

This happened about a month after I got her and I guarantee you that after that first jump on the bed and me accepting her, I could see a drastic change in her disposition, even though she was already starting to come around just like Bonita is.

        • It’s never going to happen. Period. I am a very poor sleeper and a huge part of why I had such poor health in the early part of my adulthood is that is I slept with my cats. I would never sleep with my pets again.

          • Hey girl, no worries! I was just sharing my experience and totally understand where you are coming from.

I have slept with cats and dogs and sometimes both many times in my life. In all those experiences, I always thought the cat was more restless and troublesome and most of my dogs were like me and just wanted to lie down and go to sleep. LOL

            • As I understand and have experienced it, dogs definitely sleep a lot more like humans. But I’d still have to get up when she needs to pee and the ick factor in my sheets is just augh. Bonita has zero interest in exploring the top part of the house and has an established bedtime and morning routine so I’m going to keep the status quo.

That said, she is welcome to come sleep with me on the couch if I have a nap — which we did this afternoon. πŸ™‚

  1. Yup and pretty soon it will be a choice of her or the computer. Dogs learn to dislike it when you are on the computer πŸ™‚ As long as I gave my girls some time every hour they let me be until they decided that it was walk time.

    • I firmly maintain that as long as you’re the boss, dogs will get used to your routine rather than dictating theirs. πŸ™‚

      • Absolutely. You set the rules, meet their needs (Not necessarily their wishes) and be consistent and they will adjust. My dog is so good at training people that I tell them, they don’t have to obey the dog. But she never gets on the bed, she goes away when I ask her to, and she waits until I wake up to stir in the morning.
