I have just about finished the dishwasher cabinet!!!
What’s left are little finishing touches that require a trip to Home Depot. That is definitely going to be first thing tomorrow!

I put one of these bolts at the top and bottom of the dining room side; they seemed so perfect for securing the doors. They’re not. 🙁 I’ll need to add a mechanism inside one of the doors to keep it from swinging and then the bolts should work.

The top looks horrible. 🙂 I’m going to get some quarter round to make the edges along the countertop prettier. I think a bit more sanding and the eventual paint will make the rest of it look okay. I am however impressed with my jigsawing. 🙂
Because of the angled corner on the kitchen side, I won’t be able to use one of those sliding bolts to secure the door. I’ll have to re-examine the options at Home Depot.
The kitchen side definitely looks less polished than does the dining room side. The door jam isn’t quite as square, although I think I could remedy that by shifting the bottom hinge a tad which would shift the door to cover the slight gap. Considering how hard it was to get that hinge screwed in, I don’t have the strength to remove it and reposition it. 🙂

There seems to be no end to your talents Rae! Ever thought of tackling a School Bus conversion? Now there would be a job for the Randle driveway next winter!
Been meaning to ask… How did the leak repair go? The last you mentioned it you were waiting for a dry day and had done something temporary.
Painters Putty would hide that small opening. It covers a lot of little problems.

My talents: *laughs* That is the funniest thing I’ve heard all day. I have no talents; I just make cuts as straight as I can and then use trim to cover my mistakes. 🙂
School bus: no chance of that; those things give me nightmares! However, I would love to have a hand in building my own bus conversion one day, just so long as its not a school bus!
Next winter: am I invited back? 😉
Leak: still just a temporary fix. It hasn’t been dry enough out yet for caulking to cure.
Painters putty: I didn’t say anything about it, but my intention when I paint is to use lots of putty to hide my imperfections. 😀 You can see in the above pics that the little bolt is not on straight. I figured that I’ll relocate it when it comes time to paint (since I have to remove it anyway) and and fill in the wrong holes with putty. 🙂
There is always a spot for you Rae!
I read about a guy who picked up a wrecked 5th wheel for nothing or almost nothing and gutted it for all usable parts. It was amazing what he got out of it! All the windows, lights, kitchen, bathroom, bed – everything! He built a “Schoolie” out of it but the idea would work for any bus.
Awwwwwww. 🙂
I actually keep an eye out for Royal Classic wrecks so that I can have original parts. I’m especially hoping to find one with dual pane windows. No luck yet; these things are built to last!
