A Scene From Ottawa Today

Mounties carry the casket containing Jack Layton into the Parliament building where it will lie in state

This is the first time in Canadian history that a state funeral is held for a member of Her Majesty’s Loyal Opposition.

I would like to convey my condolences to the Layton/Chow family.

    • What a legacy he leaves. I look at myself who bitches about the state of politics in Canada and who fled Quebec because of the government there but doesn’t have the guts to do anything about. Jack Layton might have left Quebec, too, but he never gave up trying to improve it, and his legacy there is completely wiping out the separatist party and redrawing the Quebec political map!

I hope that whomever succeeds him is also a Quebecer.
