\"Rae<\/a><\/p>\n

For several years, I was\u00a0“Rae from Travels With Miranda<\/a>“, a full-time RVer, permanent traveler, and blogger who threw away a comfortable life in the civil service in the hope of finding a life that was more genuine.<\/p>\n

I am still her.<\/p>\n

But I am also Rae of Haven on the Prairie, my little piece of Saskatchewan where I put down some roots and applied\u00a0what I learned on the road about community. Haven\u00a0is a well of infinite energy from which I can draw. It is a port of call, not a destination, a place to rest after months and years of wandering.<\/p>\n

And do I wander… I am now the Rae who spent four months of her life in the Balkans and reminisces fondly of torrid weekends in Plovdiv, dreary afternoons in Sarajevo, good food in Belgrade, and warm hospitality in Montenegro, Kosovo, and Macedonia. I am the Rae who has lived in the real Spain and fulfilled her lifelong dream of spending a day at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. And I am the 15-year-old Rae who, in her late 30s, finally got a taste of medieval England.<\/p>\n

And somehow, against all odds, I am the Rae who discovered that sun and humidity and Spanish and chiles suit her who is now a Mexican expat pursuing new dreams in a land where she can have a quality of life she never dared to dream of in Canada.<\/p>\n

Finally, I am\u00a0Rae the transcriptionist and proofreader<\/a> who has finally found meaningful and sustainable work to fund her life without compromising her need for freedom of schedule and movement.<\/p>\n

This blog is about all these parts of me so that I may continue to chronicle this wonderful and absurd life that I have designed for myself.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
