  1. I swear, that looks so good–I wonder if I can find the sauces in the US!! Enjoy, while I drool!

    • Chamoy is a shock because you expect something sweet and it is very salty and kind of fermented tasting depending on the brand. Just a taste on its own is nasty, but put it on mango (fresh or sorbet) and it comes into its own. You can order chamoy sauce on Amazon!

You can add any hot sauce you like, but she put Tapatío.

I forgot to mention that she also put on tajín: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taj%C3%ADn_(seasoning)

  2. I’ve seen Tajin here, but have not tried it. I have a similar one from Penzey’s called Pico Fruta, and it is meant to be sprinkled on fruit. It has a citrus overtone which I like on a lot of things – but have not put it on fruit after the first trial of that use. We’re finding that we are sprinkling it on a lot of things, but not fruit. Good on avocados.

Ingredient label shows “sugar” as the first ingredient, but it surely isn’t sweet, and really don’t see anything in there that is white, or even remotely resembles brown sugar. Other ingredients are ancho chili pepper, cayenne, lemon peel, citric acid, salt, and cilantro.

    Virtual hugs,

    Judie

    • Tajín is chile powder, salt, and dehydrated lime juice. I love the idea of it, but was disappointed to discover that I don’t really care for it! It doesn’t ruin anything for me, but I don’t seek it out.
